Dan Rouse - Pulpit Minister
Dan was born and raised in Kansas, the
oldest of four children. His mom and dad are faithful
members of the Church of Christ, with his father having
served as an elder in the church for nearly 40 years. Dan
graduated from high school in Towanda, Kansas and then
attended the Sunset International Bible Institute in
Lubbock, Texas. Following graduation from SIBI Dan has
served churches in Huckabay, Texas (eighteen months);
Mulvane, Kansas (three years); Portales, New Mexico (sixteen
years); Lubbock, Texas (twelve years); and now here in Fort
Gibson (since September of 2005).
While attending high school Dan met the love of his life,
Carol Purkey. They were married in 1970. They have been
blessed with four children and one grandchild.
Dan has degrees from Trinity College
of the Bible (ThB) and Rochester College (BRE). He has
traveled on mission trips to Guyana, Mexico, India, and
Ghana. He has also made two study trips to Israel and one
to Egypt. Dan has spoken at numerous brotherhood
lectureships and conducted over seventy gospel meetings.
Dan and Carol are thoroughly enjoying being Okies and
working with the wonderful church here at Fort Gibson.

Barrett Vanlandingham -Youth Minister
I started here on Sunday, May 5, 2002.
Wow! God has been so good to me and my family. We
love this church family, and we love the community. Both
Lisa and I are Okies, and were raised in the church by Godly parents. And now, we enjoy teaching Bible stories and
principles to kids of all ages, including our own three: Ashton
(13), Gracie(11), and Britton(8). We feel very
fortunate to be on a team with so many great Bible class
teachers here at the Fort Gibson Church of Christ.
Both of us are graduates of Oklahoma Christian
University. Lisa ('88) has her degree and state
certification in Elementary Education. I have mine
in Mass Communications ('87). I have since taken graduate
level courses at Harding University Graduate School of Religion.
I am a long ways from finishing my master's degree, but I enjoy
squeezing in a class when possible. Obviously, most of my
time is spent planning and carrying out a very active and
hopefully productive youth ministry. I get a lot of help
from dedicated parents and three dedicated youth deacons who I
appreciate and love so much.
My favorite things: Lisa,
my kids, teaching, singing, playing guitar, banjo, fiddle, and
piano... also, talking with just about anyone, laughing,
watching TV, news, eating, and dieting!... also, church camp,
and going to youth rallies! I wish adults had these!
Any ideas?
