THE FORT GIBSON CHURCH OF CHRIST
When a survey
was recently taken of the leadership of the Fort Gibson church,
the consensus was our greatest strength is our loving
atmosphere. In light of what Jesus says about how his disciples
are to be known, we are proud of that.
You’ll find the
church at Fort Gibson to be comprised of a broad mix of ages.
We have lots of young families along with a healthy number of
retirees. Most of our folks are “working class” people. We
would probably be considered a “blue collar” church.
Our worship
services could best be described as “relaxed.” Our members love
to sing. And we sing a real mix of contemporary and older
songs. The sermons are Bible-based and relevant to everyday
life. We’re not really a “clapping” or “hand raising” church,
but if someone does nobody has a heart attack.
This church has
very active prison and jail ministries. We also sponsor a
number of support groups including Grief Share, AA, and NA. As
someone has said, “It’s okay to be a sinner here.” Our goal is
to help people transform their lives through their relationship
with Jesus Christ.
We have a very
strong youth ministry. We also have an excellent children’s
education program. Our kids' spiritual welfare is extremely
important to us, and we put a real emphasis on our youth
programs.
Our missions
program reaches points all over the world. We also sponsor
short term mission efforts to Mexico to allow opportunity for
anyone who desires to enjoy the chance to share their faith and
make a difference in the kingdom.
We hope you’ll
come visit us at the Fort Gibson Church of Christ. If there’s
any way we can be of aid to you, just let us know.
